Notes
I hope everybody had a restful winter break! It seems crazy that our school year is already halfway over! Achievement records go home on Jan. 8th.

Could you please check with your student to make sure they have working headphones? It seems several students do not have them and that can cause a problem when they are trying to use the iPads to do Reading Eggs or Lexia.
The students got new AR levels and new AR goals for the next quarter. These new point goals do not have to be met until March 11th. Please encourage your child to read AR books at home every night. It is very important that they get practice at their “just right” reading level!
What We Are Learning
Reading- We are starting a brand new language arts unit about Bridges. To start off our learning, the students are going to be building a bridge out of straws and testing to see who can build the strongest bridge! We will be reading some non-fiction books about bridges and the types of bridges and then reading some historical fiction books about bridges. The students will be doing a research report on a famous bridge. This will all be done in class.
Spelling- Unit 15 test on Friday
Math- We are starting a brand new module in math. This Module is going to continue addition and subtraction to 1,000 and word problems.
Science- We started our unit on Forces and Motion unit before break. We set up an experiment with a hot wheels car and wrote a lab report about our experiment. We will continue to go through the writing process with non-fiction writing in our writing workshop.
